Mongolian businesses are getting ready for the third Mongolia-China Expo to be held early next month in China. The expo will be hosted September 6 – 10 in the Inner Mongolian cities of Hohhot, Ulanqab and Tongliao. The expo theme will be Mongolian tourism, agricultural products and mining industry.

At least 360 participants have registered for the event, which is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Mongolia, The Ministry of Health, The Ministry of Road and Transportation Development, The General Administration of Customs, The General Agency for Specialized Inspection, Ulaabaatar Railway JSC, and the Agency for Standardization and metrology.

Some Mongolian producers have encountered problems when making plans to display their products at the event. China Inspection and Quarantine has raised concerns about importing samples of Mongolian meat, dairy and honey products into China for the event. These products must be subject to the standard inspection and quarantine procedures, and may require an import/export license.

The expo provides a space to facilitate meetings, and a platform for discussion of continuing development of trade and economic cooperation between Mongolian and Chinese companies. The goal is to promote trade and investment discussions and broaden economic cooperative networks to increase expose of Chinese market to Mongolian products. Exported Mongolian cashmere goods will be a focus of the event, which will include a fashion show displaying Mongolian cashmere products.

As the event is focused on traducing Mongolia to Chinese businesses, there will also be exhibits on Mongolian culture and traditions held in Ulanqab. The event will include forums on legal services, trade standardization, technology transfer, and the global cashmere industry. Mongolia an China have out forward a joint goal of increasing total cross-border turnover between the two neighbors to at least USD $10 billion by 2020.
