Mongolia To Enter Visa Free Travel Agreement with Chile

The Cabinet of the government of Mongolia convened a regular meeting this week. During the meeting the Cabinet discussed steps for ratification and implementation of new legal cooperation programs with the Republic of Belarus. The new agreements include mutual legal assistance in connection with civil cases, including mutual recognition of judgments. Also, on the table are mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and mutual extradition.
 
At the same time the Cabinet reviewed and approved agreements on mutual exception of diplomatic visa requirements with Azerbaijan and for all passport holders with Chile. With is agreement, Mongolian passport holders can now count on visa free travel to 6 Latin American countries.
 
A delegation from China headed by Li Hongzhong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee and CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee also visited Mongolia this week. Mongolia and China discussed ways to broaden the mutual strategic partnership, and cooperation across areas of government. Mongolia and China aim to increase bilateral trade to USD 10 billion by 2020 at the same time Mongolia is integrated within China’s Belt and Road project through new railway and highway linkages.
 
Finally, the Cabinet directed the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry to develop a new Winter Greenhous Farming project. The initiative provides highly discounted electricity for winter greenhouses. The Winter Greenhouse project is expected to supply over 6000 tons of vegetables over the winder, decreasing the need to import by over 70 percent.
